Chloé Mazlo is a Franco-Lebanese director. After studying graphics at the École supérieure des arts décoratifs de Strasbourg, she specialised in animation, combining different techniques. Whether they explore autobiography (L'amour m'anime, Deyrouth, Les Petits Cailloux), literary adaptation (Conte de fées à l'usage des moyennes personnes based on Boris Vian) or her family history (Diamenteurs), her films stand out through their highly allegorical pictural language. Between a crisis of ideals and shattered hopes, they describe to varying degrees the trials and tribulations of characters in the process of disillusionment. They are all pretexts to take a gentle and self-mocking look at the myths of love, the ideal family, absolute happiness or the perfect identity. Her short films have been selected for several French and international festivals, winning awards on many occasions. Deyrouth was screened at the Festival Premiers Plans in 2011. Her third short, Les Petits Cailloux, won the 2015 Animated Short César. In 2020 she made her first feature, Sous le ciel d'Alice (Skies of Lebanon), with Alba Rohrwarcher and Wajdi Mouawad, selected for Critics' Week in Cannes was released in theatres in June 2021. She has continued her work in writing and graphic arts with a residency at the Cité internationale des Arts.
