For the second edition of Vertiges, the Festival Premiers Plans has programmed four surprising double bills.
The first will be for two Scandinavian premieres. Sick of Myself, from Norwegian Kristoffer Borgli, tells the story of Signe (played by Kristine Kujath Thorp, who starred in Ninjababy by Yngvild Sve Flikke, Audience Award at the last edition of Premiers Plans), a young woman tries desperately to attract attention and sympathy… through self-mutilation. The Danish film Attachment is a surprising mixture of genres: a story of love and friendship between two women, the discovery by one of them of the Jewish faith… and its demons!
The second is an extension of the theme of the double with two horror films, two unmissable big-screen experiences. The Thing is John Carpenter’s chef d’oeuvre and Possession Andrzej Zulawski’s. Each of these films is a reflection on the world through the idea of extinction, through duplication, a group of explorers and a couple.
The third is an opportunity to delve into Spanish fantasy with El Doble, Rodrigo Sorogoyen’s film which is as yet unreleased in France, that we are very proud to screen for you. El Doble is the remake of an episode of the cult Spanish series Historias para no dormir (Stories to Stay Awake), created by Narcisco Ibáñez Serrador. The second film of the evening is one of Serrador’s features ¿Quién puede matar a un niño? (Death is Child’s Play), a rare film not to be missed.
Finally, after Bertrand Mandico last year, we are very happy to reserve an evening for Lucile Hadzihalilovic. A rare and secretive director who has made 4 features in 25 years, Lucile Hadzihalilovic will be here to present a restored copy of her first film, La Bouche de Jean-Pierre, and her latest feature, Earwig, demonstrating the singular breadth of her work! |
