Stéphane Brizé
2023 - France - 1h55

Screenings : wednesday 24 - 8:30 pm - Grand Théâtre - presented and followed by a debate with the film directors
Mathieu lives in Paris, Alice in a small seaside town in western France. He is coming up to fifty and is a well-known actor. She is over forty and a piano teacher. They fell in love about fifteen years ago. Then they separated. Since then, time has passed, each has gone his own way and the wounds have gradually healed. When Mathieu comes to drown his melancholy in the whirlpool baths of a thalassotherapy centre, he meets Alice again by chance.
Stéphane Brizé
After the short film Bleu dommage, Stéphane Brizé directed his first feature film, Le Bleu des villes (Hometown Blue), which was screened at the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes. This was followed by Je ne suis pas là pour être aimé (Not Here to Be Loved), a film about loneliness and amateur tango, starring Patrick Chesnais and Anne Consigny, both of whom were nominated for César awards. He directed Sandrine Kiberlain and Vincent Lindon in Mademoiselle Chambon, based on the novel of the same name by Éric Holder. With La Loi du marché (The Measure of a Man) (2015), Stéphane Brizé gave one of his greatest roles to Vincent Lindon, who was awarded the Best Actor prize at the 68th Cannes Film Festival and the César for Best Actor. At the same time, Stéphane Brizé made a surprising change with the period drama Une vie (A Woman's Life), adapted from a story by Guy de Maupassant, starring Judith Chemla. Brizé reunited with Vincent Lindon for the fourth time in En guerre (At War), again in competition at Cannes. He closed his social trilogy with Un autre monde (Another World) (2021), which once again unites his favourite actor with Sandrine Kiberlain. Hors-saison (Out of Season) is his tenth feature film, and stars Guillaume Canet and Alba Rohrwacher.
