After studying audiovisual arts in Paris, Carine Tardieu worked as an assistant director on a number of films and TV movies, and then as a scriptwriter for television. Between 2002 and 2004, she directed two short films that won awards at a number of international festivals: Les Baisers des autres and L'Aîné de mes soucis. These two short films launched the ‘Ciné-roman’ collection of novelisations of screenplays published by Actes Sud Junior, with whom Carine Tardieu subsequently published two other novels for young people. She was spotted by Christophe Rossignon, who in 2007 produced her first feature film, La Tête de maman (In Mom’s Head), co-written with Michel Leclerc and premiered at Premiers Plans in 2007. For her second feature, she adapted the novel Du vent dans mes mollets (The Dandelions) with its author, Raphaële Moussafir. Her third feature, Otez-moi d'un doute (Just to Be Sure), was selected for the Directors’ Fortnight in 2017. Her next film, Les Jeunes Amants (The Young Lovers), premiered at Premiers Plans in 2022.
