On a remote part of the Siberian Arctic coast, in a wind-battered shelter, a lone man is waiting to witness an ancient assembly. But the warming of the seas and the rise in temperatures have led to an unexpected change, and the man is soon overtaken by events.

Evgenia Arbugaeva is a London-based documentary photographer. Her work has had international exhibitions and has appeared in publications including The New Yorker, Time Magazine and National Geographic Magazine. Haulout was born out of the photographic portrait she worked on for several years in Chukotka.
Maxim Arbugaev is a director, cinematographer, producer and winner of multiple awards from international festivals, notably in Sundance 2018, where he received a Special Jury Award in the World Cinema Documentary category for cinematography for the film Genesis 2.0, which he co-directed with Christian Frei.
