Antoine BARRAUD

Project Le Traversier

Antoine Barraud was born in 1971. He is a scriptwriter and script doctor, and has worked most notably on the features of Philippe Haïm. His first short, Monstre, was presented in competition in Angers in 2005. Since then he has made the films Déluge, Song, River of Anger and Monstre numéro deux. He is currently working with Château-rouge Productions on the development of his feature project Le Traversier, which will be filmed in Taiwan, France, Canada and the Far North. He is also working on an adaptation of Euripedes’ “Medea”.

Celia Galvan Julve was born in 1977. After studying Audiovisual Communication at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, she joined the Royal College of Art in London in 2000. While there she made several shorts: Spider (1999), Fused (2001) and Historia del Desierto, presented in Angers in 2003. Since leaving the Royal College she has made two other shorts, One Minute Past Midnight, selected in Premiers Plans in 2006, and El Verano de los Electrodomesticos Rotos (2006) with Le Bureau Films who will also produce her first feature Rosita Guzmán está viva (selected at Cinéfondation in 2004 and the Cannes Film Festival Workshop in 2005).

Héléna KLOTZ

Héléna Klotz est née en 1979. En 1999 elle commence des études de cinéma à Paris VIII. En parallèle de sa vie étudiante, elle travaille comme assistante au théâtre puis comme assistante casting au cinéma sur les films de Nicolas Klotz (Paria, La Blessure) et de Laurent Achard (Le Dernier des fous). En 2003 elle réalise son premier court métrage Le Léopard ne se déplace jamais sans ses tâches qui est sélectionné dans plusieurs festivals (Locarno, Brive…) et récompensé (Aix en Provence, Côté Court, Créteil, Dignes les bains). En 2005, elle débute l’écriture de son premier long métrage Le Festin des chiens (Les Productions Bagheera). En 2006 elle réalise un documentaire, Les Amants cinéma où elle filme l’intimité du travail de ses parents, Elisabeth Perceval et Nicolas Klotz, pendant le tournage de leur dernier film La Question humaine. 

Peter MACKIE BURNS

Project White Male Heart

Born in Scotland in 1967, Peter Mackie Burns studied cinema at Goldsmiths’ College. His graduation film Honey (2003) won im several awards. In 2005, he made Milk, his first short after leaving Goldsmiths’, which won an award at Premiers Plans in 2006 as well as in many other festivals (Berlin, Grenade, Ourense…). In 2006, he made two other shorts, Run and The Spastic King for Channel 4. He is currently working with Brocken Spectre on developing his first feature, White Male Heart.

François Pirot was born in 1977 in the Belgian Ardennes. He finished his directing studies at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion, in Louvain-la-Neuve, with his graduation film Nature morte in 2000. Following his studies he went on to scriptwriting, on two features by Joachim Lafosse, Nue Propriété and Elève libre and Nicolas Provost’s feature L’Envahisseur (Ateliers d’Angers 2007). In 2005, he made Retraite, his first fiction short, which was presented at and won awards at several festivals, including Premiers Plans in 2006, then Deux (six variations à 4 quatre mains), a documentary on twins and Dimanche soir, in 2009.    Selected in the Locarno Film Festival, where he was awarded (Youth Jury Award), Mobil Home was released in France in 2012 (Distrib Films). François Pirot came back to the Angers Workshops as instructors.

Germinal Roaux was born in Lausanne in 1975. In 1994 he made his graduation film, Une pluie et des hommes, a documentary shot in Burkina Faso. From 1996 to 2004, he mainly worked as a press photographer (for l’Illustré, l’Hebdo and then Edelweiss, Femina, Type...). In 2000, he won the 1er Prix Suisse des Médias for a series of reports on autism. Three years later, he made a 28-minute documentary, Des tas de choses, which was selected in several festivals (Soleure, Visions du réel, Namur…) and won awards (Festival du film de Dakar, Prix du cinéma Suisse). In 2007, he made Icebergs, his first fiction short, which was also presented in several festivals (most promising director award in Locarno, Tribeca, Soleure…). He is currently working with CAB Productions on the development of his first feature,  Left Foot Right Foot

Paul SAINTILLAN

Paul Saintillan was born in Versailles in 1971. After studying literature and philosophy he joined the directing department of la fémis in 1999, graduating in 2002. He made a documentary, Manège (2000), along with several dramas as part of his studies, including Margot mise à nu (2001) and La Vie est un singe (2002), both of which were presented at Premiers Plans. Cauchemar du promeneur solitaire, his first short after la fémis, was also presented in Angers in 2006. In 2006-2007 he took part in the writing residency at the Moulin d’Andé with Crénom !, his first feature project, produced by Ecce Films.

Rebecca ZLOTOWSKI

Rébecca Zlotowski was born in 1980 in Paris. A graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure, with a higher degree in literature, she joined la fémis in 2003, in the screenplay department. While there she co-wrote with Cyprien Vial the short film Dans le rang, which won the SACD award at the Directors’ Fortnight in 2006, and met Teddy Lussi Modeste, whose first feature, Jimmy Rivière, she also co-wrote (Ateliers d’Angers 2007). She has also directed two shorts, Dame/Y (with Karine Arlot) and Constance à Tokyo (with Aurélia Morali), and more recently a music video. She is currently finishing writing Belle Épine, a feature that she will direct for Films Velvet.
