Malgorzata Szumowska was born in 1973 in Cracow, Poland. She studied for several years at the Lodz film school, directing both documentaries as well as fictions. Wniebowstapienie is her graduation film. Since, she has directed a feature-length film, Szezesliwy, also being selected this year in Angers.
