While the the community comes together around the tradition August festivals, Daniel, a young shepherd, dreams of love. João Pedro Plácido was born in Lisbon in 1979. He started directing and filming music videos aged 19 and later on went to Cinema School in Portugal and the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehn in Germany. He has worked on long and short films, documentaries and commercials, around the wold since 2000, firstly as a photographic assistant, and from 2009 as a director of photography. Volta a Terra is his first film as a director.
