Vincent n'a pas d'écailles
Thomas Salvador

Vincent has an extraordinary power: his strength and reflexes are vastly increased when he comes into contact with water. To use this gift to the full he moves to an area with many of rivers and lakes, and which is sufficiently remote for him to live peacefully. During one of his aquatic outings he is surprised by Lucie and falls in love with her.

"The came from an idea I had my head of a body gliding underwater in a very straight and shallow stream, the sort of place you would just paddle but where you would never think of swimming. This original image already had in it the idea of Vincent's unique difference and incongruity that can be found, for instance, when you swim at night or drift in a canal. Added to this was my fondness for working on the body and movement, and the idea of a man whose abilities are multiplied when he comes into contact with water soon seemed obvious. The hero of the film was to do extraordinary things!"
