19 th century Switzerland. Joséphine Gräbli, a young worker in the clock manufacturers in the valley, has the job of producing the unrueh – the balance wheel located in the mechanical heart of a watch. She soon disagrees with the organisation of work and the distribution of wealth in the village and the factory, and joins the local anarchist workers movement where she meets the Russian geographer and traveller Piotr Kropotkine.
