Alan Darcy is an inspired visionary. He is convince that he is able to help the town's disenchanted youngsters, who confront enemy gangs. He starts a boxing club to help them not only to be proud of their bodies but alsoto counter modern society's problems. The film is the story of an execptional man seen trough his stubborn disciples' personal confrontations.

Shane Meadows was born in Uttoxeter in 1972. From 1993 to 1994 he studied photography at Nottingham Trent University. He ste up his own production company in 1994 (Big Arty Production). He has made several amateur shorts, a few of which where picked up by channel 4 Cinema. Whilst starting a course at Warwick University he made a documentary for channel 4, , "King of the Gypsies". After "Where's the Money Ronnie" (short) and "Small time" (medium) he made "Twentyfour Seven", his first feature.
