Ziya Demirelwas born in Adana, Turkey in 1988. He started drama at school and continued at University. While he was studying industrial engineering at Galatasaray University, he made his first short, The Title of The Film. After graduating, he went on to study writing and directing at the Prague Flim School, where he made a much-acclaimed short film entitled Evicko. Sali (Tuesday) is his first professional film.
