A group of fishermen from Naples, living in Sicily, cross into Tunisian waters late at night in the hopes of a better catch. The next day, worn out from the night's adventure, the fishermen debate whether or not to continue their clandestine fishing. There is disagreement, but the following night the group finds itself back out on foreign water. They are discovered by the Tunisian police, who don't hesitate to fire upon their boat. Barely escaping, the fishermen decide to go home...

Vincenzo Marra was born in Naples in 1972. He has always felt attached this city, despite that he lived in Rome since he was a child. After finishing a diploma in literature and starting to study law, Marra became interested in the civil conflicts in Latin America and Ireland. Before working in cinema, he was a sports photographer and an assistant in Mario Martone's theatre. In 1998, he became Marco Bechis' assistant for his film Garage Olimpo. The same year, he directed two short films, Una rosa prego and La Vestizione. He has just finished a documentary, Estranei alla massa, about the "tifosi", or sports fans in Naples. Tornando a casa is his first feature-length fiction film.
