Václav Svankmajer, son of Jan, was born in Prague in 1975. He graduated from the Arts and Crafts Secondary School and enrolled in the FAMU to study animation. His first two student films R.Y.B.A. 073 and Test were presented at Angers in 2000 and 2001, respectively.
