Born in 1988 in Bulgaria, EmmaVakarelova joined the École Estienne in Paris in 2007, where she illustrated her first book, based on the tale Perce-neige, written by Maria Aglikine. She then began a comic strip degree at the EESI in Angoulême (European School of Visual Arts). In 2013, her second illustrated book, Un Jour Près de Sofia, was published. In 2012, she joined La Poudrière, where she directed several short films. La Nuit des Jours (Tonight's The Night), her graduation film (2014).
