Chatila and Reda are two Palestinian cousins who have fled to Athens. Together, they pull off a series of schemes to raise a large sum of money to buy false passports, the key to Germany, where they dream of finally building a life for themselves. But this quest pushes them beyond their limits, leaving behind a part of themselves in the hope of a better future.

Mahdi Fleifel is a Palestinian-Danish director who graduated from NFTS in London. In 2012, his first feature-length documentary A World Not Ours premiered in Toronto, before going on to win some thirty awards (Berlinale, CPH:DOX, Yamagata, DOC:NYC). He took part in the Cinéfondation in 2013. He then directed several short films. To a Land Unknown was screened at the last Filmmakers’ Fortnight in Cannes.
