Thomas is a 30-something that suffers from acute agoraphobia and hasn't left his house for eight years. His only contact with the outside world is through his computer. While he sometimes feels lonesome, Thomas is satisfied with his hermit's life. His psychoanalyst decides to sign Thomas up for a social club on the internet. Women in flesh and blood and in need of love march across his screen. Little by little, Thomas, assailed from all sides, wants only to recover his tranquillity...

Pierre-Paul Renders was born in Brussels in 1963. Graduate of the Catholic University of Louvain in classic philosophy in 1984, he studied directing at the Institute of Broadcasting Arts (IAD). Interested as much in documentary as fiction films, he participated in the collective Belgian film The Seven Deadly Sins in 1992, directing the episode entitled La Tendresse, his first short film. After directing for Belgian television on several occasions, Renders finished a series of four documentaries for the Belgian Doctors Without Borders in 1998. Thomas est amoureux is his first feature-length film.
