Solange, 30, and Pierre, 20, are lovers. Solange is pregnant and is going to get an abortion today. This decision is torturing each of them differently. She wants to quit her job, change her life. He wants to keep the baby, despite his immaturity.

The Volunteers is Carole Henry's second film made while at the INSAS (National Institute for Performing Arts and Broadcasting), the first being Céline a vingt ans. She also made the documentary Voyage en Wallonie in 2001.
