Stevie, is a 14 year old girl who has to put up with the dissipated lifestyle of her parents, who live life at the furious pace of wild parties and illegality, and constantly have to move house. She dreams of a stable, reassuring home and ordinary parents. When they arrive in a new town she tells her new friends that her parents are diplomats... but the truth catches up on her...

Pia Marais was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, to an Anglo-French father and a Swedish mother. She started by studying sculpture and photography. She then went into cinema. Having studied at the Chelsea School of Art (London), the Rietveld Akademie (Amsterdam), and the Kunstakademie (Düsseldorf), she went to the Deutsche Film- und Fernseh- Akademie (DFFB) in Berlin. After working as an assistant director, casting director and scriptwriter, she made her first feature film, Die Unerzogenen.
