In present northeastern Morocco, Zeinab, a young wife watches her husband leave the country for work the day after their wedding. Zeinab is pregnant, and as she waits for her husband to return, she puts her fetus to sleep. Time passes, but he doesn't come back.

Yasmine Kassari was born in Morocco on 3 October 1972. She studied directing at the INSAS (Brussles) and graduated in 1977. She made two short films, Chiens Errants in 1995 and Lynda et Nadia in 2000, as well as a medium-length documentary, Quand les hommes pleurent, screened at numerous festivals. The Sleeping Child is her first feature film.
