1971, Francoist Spain. In the Galician countryside, María helps women to give birth, and, more occasionally, those that do not want to have children. After trying to help a young woman, she is forced to flee the country, leaving everything behind her. During her dangerous journey to Portugal, María encounters feminine solidarity and realises she is not alone…

Jaione Camborda comes from San Sebastián and is based in Galicia. She studied at the FAMU film school in Prague and at HFF in Munich. But it was in Galicia that she started her projects. She has made short films with the Esnatu Zinema production company. She has also collaborated on the scripts of Os fenómenos (2014) and Ons (2020) directed by Alfonzo Zarauza. Her first film, Arima (2019) won the best director award in the New Waves section of the Seville European Film Festival. She was selected to take part in writing residencies in Toronto and San Sebastián for O corno (The Rye Horn) (2023), her second fiction feature. The film won the Golden Shell for Best Film at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
