The film is set in a dreary village in the Franco-Swabian forest. Johannes is the village's spiritual leader and Lena is his faithful, obliging wife. Lena's daily life is achingly monotonous, consisting almost entirely of nursing the ill, playing organ at church, and fulfilling her wifely duties in bed. But the mysterious murder of a village girl suddenly knocks this humdrum existence off its tracks. In the wake of these events, Lena discovers the affection and tenderness for which she has always longed in Paul, the village mechanic...

Iain Dilthey was born in 1971 in Scotland. From 1992 to 1997 he studied Chemistry and Pharmaceutics, followed by work as a scriptwriter and director's and production assistant on various TV programs, reportages and short films. From 1997 to 2002 he studied directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Wurttemberg where he directed, among others, the award winning feature film Ich werde Dich auf Handen tragen in 2001. Iain Dilthey graduated in 2002 with Das Verlangen.
