For about a hundred years, the inhabitants of Carlsfeld a mountainous village in ex-DDR have been dedicated to making bandoneons. For as long as they remember, musicians from Buenos Aires have come to this country to buy their instruments and although the workshops are now all closed, the spirit of tango is still alive in these streets where it was born.

Jan Bosse was born in 1974 in Kassel. After his secondary school education he worked for two years as an educator with young people from Belfast . He then studied Political Science in Munich and was a radio reporter for Bayerische Rundfunk. He studied at the HFF in Munich in 1997. "Tango Ost" is his first film.
