In 2019, Emma Branderhorst graduated in directing from the Utrecht Arts University. She has been an assistant director on major Dutch film productions as well as working for several years as a casting director. As a progressive feminist, she is fascinated by the themes of youth and education from a feminine viewpoint. Her short film Onderhuids (Under the Skin) had its international premiere at the Berlinale Génération 2020. She is currently developing several films and also directs commercials.
