Chicago, 1929. Two broke musicians witness a gangland massacre and dress as women musicians to escape. They go to Florida with an all-woman band and fall in love with Sugar Kane Kowalczyk, who wants to marry a millionaire.

When he made Some like it Hot, Billy Wilder was already an accomplished director with films such as Double Indemnity and Sunset Boulevard under his belt. Wanting more freedom, he moved into independent productions enabling him to make this film with three Hollywood stars, Marylin Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. While no-one can resist Marylin's charms, how can two men dressed as women manage to win her over? When I make a film I don't make it for the critics, or to take money off the audience. […] Most of all I try to please a person, myself. So I can measure what I do, analyse the slightest detail.
