Nicolai Rohde was born in 1966 in Bremen. After following an apprenticeship as a chef, he worked in various hotels before completing his civil service at the Bremen theatre. From 1990 to 1995, he studied film at the Art Academy in Bremen, and following 1995 at the HFF/B. He has directed numerous films: "Königsblau" (1995), "Du liegst schief" (1996), "Spiegel" (1997), "Malum Granatum" (1998), "Das machen wir anders" (1999).
