In a small Turkish village, doomed to be flooded by the construction of a dam, an unemployed widower wants to celebrate his birthday of his nine years child, who dreams of flying like Spiderman. The same day he learns that de dam will finally be constructed.

Eileen Hofer, born in 1976, graduated in literature and history of cinema that she completed in Istanbul. She worked for a film festival as a press officer for four years. She started then working as a journalist for a Swiss daily newspaper before becoming the chief editor of a magazine. She's now working as a filmmaker. Roots is her first fiction film.
