Franco Lolli, of Franco-Colombian nationality, was born in Bogota on 13 June 1983. As soon as he had gained his baccalaureate he left Colombia for France where he studied cinema, firstly at the Université Paul Valéry in Montpellier, then at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris, before joining the directing department of La fémis. While there he made a documentary and several fiction shorts, and graduated in 2007 with the felicitations of the jury. His graduation film, Como todo el mundo, shot in his native country, won the School Films Grand Prix at the Festival Premiers Plans. Since then he has travelled to Cambodia to make the documentary Mémoires et images, une expérience cambodgienne, in collaboration with Rithy Panh. He is currently preparing his first fiction feature, entitled Gente de bien, selected for the screenplay readings in this year's Premiers Plans.
