Slawomir Fabicki
Wojtek grew up fatherless in Silesia, a colourless region, with a landscape of shut-down mines and poor neighbourhoods. At 19 he is in love with Katia, a Ukranian immigrant, who is older than him and already a mother. He is ready to do anything to get her the right to stay in Poland legally. At an underground boxing match where he earns a little money, he is approached by Gazda, a Mafioso money-lender looking for heavies. Wojtek is soon entrusted with recovering debts from bad payers...

Born in Warswa in 1970, Slawomir Fabicki was trained in scriptwriting and directing at the National Film School in Lódz. In 2002, he graduated with his short Meska Sprawa (A Man Thing), selected for Premiers Plans the same year and in many other festivals. He finished his studies in 2003 at the Andrzej Wajda School of Directing. Z Odzysku is his first feature film
