2054. In a labyrinthine Paris where every movement is monitored and filmed, Ilona Tasuiev, a young scientist, is kidnapped. It was in 1998 that the idea for Renaissance, or rather the idea for the visual aspect of Renaissance, came to Marc Miance. "Everything began with a test presented at Imagina 98. The previous year Olivier Renouard, who I worked with regularly, had shown me a fixed black and white 3D image. This image was the trigger which brought the missing element to what I wanted to do: give movement to a totally pure style, and contrast it with extremely realistic animation, close to a classic live action film. It was at this festival that Miance met Christian Volckman and Aton Soumache. Their meeting was the starting point of a great adventure...
