Born in 1983 in the village of Muzhi into a family of doctor, Olga Tomenko later moved to Kishinev. She graduated from music school (piano) and sports school. She then left for Moscow and studied at the Litovchin Humanities Institute of Television and Broadcasting. In 2005, she enrolled in the VGIK Film Institute. The film Reaching out to Mama is her graduation film.
