Vasco Saltão was born in Lisbon in 1979, and graduated from the School of Theatre and Cinema there. He has been working professionally in cinema since 2002, on script and image, having worked with directors such as Leonor Noivo, Pedro Pinho, João Salaviza, Carlos Conceição, Filipa Reis and João Miller Guerra, among others. Ave rara (Rare Bird) is his directorial debut.
