Born in Haifa, Amos Gitai was called up to the Israeli army and filmed the Yom Kippur war in 1973. Following this he made political documentaries such as Field Diary in 1982 and had to leave Israel for Paris, where he continued his work on the themes of exile and immigration, Israeli politics and Israeli cities with Things, Yom Yom, Kadosh, Kippur, and Kedma among others… He continued with Promised Land, Free Zone, Disengagement, Ana Arabia, Tsili and Rabin, the Last Day … All his films met with great critical success, and have been selected in major festivals around the world. Plus tard tu comprendras (Later) with Jeanne Moreau, adapted from the book by Jérôme Clément who co-wrote the screenplay with Dan Franck, was broadcast on Arte and had its theatrical release in 2009.
