Mordecai et Margaret have fled the Nigerian regime with their two young daughters to settle in Great Britain. The day the father needs to renew his residence permit, their lives are once again disrupted.

Manu Kurewa, who is from Zimbabwe, first worked as an actor, director and author in theatre. In 1990, his theatrical company was invited to to participate in Edinburgh Festival. Since then, he has deveded his time between Zimbabwe and Scotland. He attended several cinema workshop in Glasgow where he made his first film, "sugar for my honey", which was shown at many festivals. Since 1994, Manu Kurewa has been a student at the National Film and Television School.
