A man is walking. Or on the contrary, I am walking. Is it day or night? If you believe what you see it is a dark, cold forest. A forest – really? Where is it? Or rather, where am I? And what about them, what are they doing there? It looks just like far distant land. Which one? Yes, someone is walking, and it is me, and my road is long, and night is falling.

Stéphane Breton is an ethnologist and director of documentaries. He has lived for several years with the Wodani of the highlands of New Guinea, where he made Eux et moi (2001) and Le Ciel dans un jardin (2003). In 2004 and 2005, he continued his cinematographic reflections with Un été silencieux in Kyrgyzstan and Le Monde extérieur in France.
