Gilles is a young adolescent who is drifting. He does his utmost to ruin his life as well as others'. Because of his provocation and robberies, he is thrown out of the family house. Gabrielle, a mature and willful adolescent, is the only one who tries to understand him. Because life has hurt them both, they decide to flee together from the hostile world they live in. Traveling country roads they find refuge in a deserted barn. As Gilles and Gabrielle run away, the film looses its bitter realism and enters far less defined territory. With the world so far away, they learn to love each other.
