Director and actor Thierry de Peretti was born in Ajaccio. In the theatre, he was a laureate of the Villa Médicis Hors-les-Murs and won the Prix de la révélation from the syndicat national de la Critique in 2001 for Le Retour au desert (Return to the Desert) by Bernard-Marie Koltès. He recently directed Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s Les Larmes Amères de Petra Von Kant (The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant) at the Théâtre de l'Œuvre. His film acting credits include Le Silence (Rules of Silence) by Orso Miret, Yves Saint-Laurent by Bertrand Bonello and Ceux qui m'aiment prendront le train (Those Who Love Me Can Take the Train) by Patrice Chéreau. In the cinema, after two short films, Le Jour de ma mort and Sleepwalkers, he directed Les Apaches, selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes in 2013, Une vie violente (A Violent Life), selected for Cannes Critics’ Week in 2017, and Enquête sur un scandale d'État (Undercover), which was selected in competition at the 2021 San Sebastián Festival. His latest film, À son image (In His Image), was released in September 2024.
