Loving
Jeff Nichols

Mildred and Richard Loving are in love and decide to get married. Nothing could be more natural, except that he is white and she is black in the segregationist America of 1958. The State of Virginia, where the Lovings have settled takes them to court: the couple is sentenced to a suspended jail sentence on the condition that they leave the State. Considering that this is a violation of their civil rights, Richard and Mildred take their case as far as the Supreme Court which, in 1967, overturned the Virginia decision. Now, the “Loving v. Virginia” ruling symbolises the right to love for all, without distinction in terms of origins.
