Lou
Tara Maurel
A summer morning in the heart of the Périgord Noir. Lou, 5, senses a strange smell in her mother’s hair: that of cold tobacco. When a man joins them to spend the afternoon at the river, Lou watches him and wonders: who is he, what is he doing there and why is he so close to her mother?

Tara Maurel began her professional experience in the network of the French Institute in Asia, and joined the international department of the CNC where she was in charge of cooperation and co-production projects. At the same time, she wrote Lou and took drama classes with Eva Saint-Paul. She then embarked on a career change that led her to work on several films, first as third assistant director on feature films, then as production manager and casting director on short films. Lou, inspired by her childhood memories, is her first film.
