A man and a woman who love each other tenderly live in a village not far from Berlin. Building a peaceful life together, they are inseparable. The man, a volunteer fireman, goes away on a training trip with his fire brigade. Valeska Grisebach was born in Bremen in 1968. After studying philosophy and literature, she joined the Vienna Film Academy. Her graduation film, Mein Stern, was very warmly received by the critics and presented at Premiers Plans in 2002, and won several international prizes. In this film she experimented with working with non-professional actors, which she looked into further in Sehnsucht, her second feature.
