Les Mistons
François Truffaut
This is "the story of five kids (the brats) who harass a young couple down in the South of France. A young man and woman engaged to be married, and five kids always on their heels, following them in the streets, bothering them in the movie theater, bothering them everywhere." (F. Truffaut)

After Une Visite (1954) Truffaut's first short, 10 minutes long, whose structure he was never pleased with, and A Story of Water, co-directed by Jean-Luc Goddard, The Brats was truly his first commercial film, for which he founded his own production company. "My original idea was to make five stories about children because I remember having had such a great time working with Doniol-Valcroze's daughter on my little 16 mm film. (...) I had the impression I could get more out of children than I could out of people my own age and older." (F. Truffaut)
