After graduating from the Arts Décoratifs de Paris, Julie Lespingal worked on La Jeune Fille sans mains (The Girl Without Hands) by Sébastien Laudenbach as lead compositor and Florence Miailhe's La Traversée as assistant director. She made her film like a sculptor, with recycling, remodelling, improvisation, starting from the memory of strong feelings of abandonment, anger and futility.
