Stella di Tocco was born in Rome. She gained in Madrid a directing diploma from ECAM. In 2008 she made the short film Macchie di sole, which was screened in, and won prizes in, several leading festivals, including the Tribeca Film Festival and Premiers Plans in Angers. In 2009 she made Le bambine di Palmi, a documentary which won an award at the Bellaria Film Festival. She is currently working on Leçons de conduite.
