1996 Fiction 1h40
Léa is a love story between two individuals that life has damaged: Lea, a young Slovak girl who lost her speech after experiencing a trauma during her childhood and Herbert, a German soldier formerly in the Foreign Legion. In 1991, Herbert arrives in Slovakia to put his affairs in order. There, he falls in love with Lea who resembles amazingly his deceased wife. Against her will, he takes her to Germany where they get married. Those are bad premises for a relationship that seems bound to fail. Gradually, however, each lover enters the secret world of the other. People have often asked Ivan Fila if Lea was a true story. For fear of disappointing them, he felt obliged to respond positively. Now, as he likes to put it, he has come to believe it himself.
