Le Silence des machines

The workers at the "Fil de Soie" plant are in shock: the machines they used to make designer underwear have disappeared over the weekend. They have been taken to gentler climes where labour costs are minimal.

Paul Calori was born in 1978 in Marseille. A former literature student at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, he graduated from the directing department of la fémis. When there he made Le Jour où le soleil s'est éteint in 2005, and Les Heures creuses in 2006. Le Silence des machines was made in collaboration with Kostia Testut as part of the la fémis ateliers-masterclass.Kostia Testut was born in 1980. After a masters degree in computer sciences and communication at la Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris 3), he joined the scriptwriting department of la fémis as the same time as Paul Calori. At the school he made a 16mm film called Label Rouge, and his director of studies for his graduation film was Jean-Claude Carrière. He was the 2007 winner of the CNC Audiovisual Innovation grant for his project Eden.
