In the Parisian suburbs, Samira lives with her parents who are from North Africa. The young girl has a very strong bond with her father though he has built a wall of silence around his family, due to his nostalgia for his own culture.

Born in Egypt in 1958, Safaa Fathy specialized in Theater during her academic studies in the United Kingdom and in France. After directing several plays she made two documentary films for television (Canal and Channel Four). Le Silence is her first fictional short.
