Jean-Charles Mbotti Malolo was born in Lyon in 1984. He studied at the Emile Cohl School in the Film d'auteur department, graduating in 2007. His graduation film, Le Coeur est un métronome, won several prizes. After working as a background artist and animator on several features, Jean-Charles Mbotti Malolo made his first professional short, Le Sens du toucher, produced by Folimage.
