Born in Dijon in 1968, Nathalie Boutefeu studied drama at the Conservatoire national de Strasbourg from 1989 to 1992. She played her first role in the cinema in Jérôme Boivin's Confessions d'un barjo (Confessions of a Crap Artist). She then went on the film with Marco Bellocchio (The Butterfly's Dream, 1994), Olivier Assayas (Irma Vep, 1996) and Marc Recha (Pau and his Brother, 2001), but it was her meeting with Jérôme Bonnell which was the most determining (Le Chignon d'Olga – Olga's Chignon, 2002, Les Yeux clairs, 2005, J'attends quelqu'un – Waiting for Someone, 2007). Before Le Printemps est vite arrivé, she made two shorts: Comme c'était bien (It was So Lovely) (1997) and Les Coquilles (2002).
