Dominique, an overwhelming and possessive father, runs a big pet shop "Le Paradis des Bêtes" with his sister. He is a violent person, and when he goes beyond the point of no return in his relationship with his wife Cathy, he runs away with their children, Clarisse and Ferdinand. He goes across the border and takes refuge in a big hotel in an up-market winter sports resort. While there he tries to create a world of illusion to win back his son and daughter... who love him unconditionally.

Estelle Larrivaz is an actress, director and scriptwriter. After studying law she went to the Ecole du Louvre where she trained for 3 years. She has taken part in a number of acting courses and at the Cours Florent. Theatre, cinema and television took up her time for most of the past few years before moving into directing in 2001. Her short Notre Père won awards in several European festivals. Le Paradis des bêtes is her first feature. Le Paradis des bêtes is a realistic tale, the story of a family adventure where love and forgiveness finally overcome suffering and violence. At the end of the day, there is the hope that those who have reached rock bottom can bounce back.
