Summer, in a small town on the Atlantic seaboard. Anthony is 18, and an apprentice trawlerman. His boss is his father: a man who shares his life between two women and two homes. Anthony is in love with blonde, tanned Océane, who is preparing to leave to study in La Rochelle. Anthony thinks that this departure will not change anything in their relationship. But Océane does not share this opinion.

Born in Les Sables d'Olonne in 1980, Catherine Paillé went to the scriptwriting department of La fémis in 2001. While there she wrote several shorts, notably with Teddy Lussi-Modeste (Embrasser les tigres), Samuel Collardey (Du soleil en hiver), Luca Governatori (Vita di Giacomo), and Léa Fehner (Sauf le silence). After graduating in 2005, she started writing Samuel Collardey's first feature, L'Apprenti. She went on to work on writing Sharuna Bartas' Indigène d'Eurasie on which she was also assistant director. She has also collaborated on the writing of Léa Fehner's first feature, Qu'un seul tienne et les autres suivront, and Lou Ye's next film, Fleur. She is currently writing with Cédric Kahn. Le Bel été is her first film as director.
